New Campbell’s V8 Soups Deliver Great Taste and Vegetable NutritionLAS VEGAS, May 05, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Campbell Soup Company (NYSE:CPB) today unveiled its newest products for the 2008-2009 fiscal year at the annual Food Marketing Institute (FMI) meeting. The products, which include two new lines of Campbell’s(R) soups, a new line of Swanson(R) stocks and new Pace(R) salsa varieties, showcase Campbell’s focus on wellness and innovation to expand the breadth of the company’s iconic brands. The new soups will begin to appear in supermarkets and mass merchandise stores nationwide between August and October, 2008.
This year Campbell will introduce two new soup lines. Campbell’s(R) V8(R) soups are a marriage of two core qualities – great-tasting Campbell’s soups and the V8 brand, which is known for delivering vegetable nutrition. For 75 years, V8 juices have been an easy way to help people get more vegetables into their diet. Now, Campbell’s V8 soups provide a delicious new way for consumers to enjoy the benefits of vegetable nutrition.
The line of satisfying, pureed soups are made from farm-fresh ingredients and will be available in five flavors – Golden Butternut Squash, Garden Broccoli, Southwestern Corn, Sweet Red Pepper and Tomato Herb. Each bowl provides a full serving of vegetables and is low in fat, saturated fat and cholesterol and contains no artificial flavors or preservatives.
The new line of Campbell’s(R) Select Harvest soups, which were initially announced in February, was unveiled at the show. These ready-to-serve soups will be available in both cans and microwavable bowls. Each variety has been formulated to deliver great taste with 480 mg of sodium per serving.
Building on Campbell’s commitment to offer an increasing number of great tasting, lower sodium options, the company has added two new soups to the line of Campbell’s(R) Healthy Request(R) soups. The new varieties include Campbell’s(R) Chunky(R) Healthy Request(R) Chicken Corn Chowder and Campbell’s Chunky Healthy Request Sirloin Burger with Country Vegetables. All Campbell’s Healthy Request soups use lower sodium natural sea salt to help deliver great taste with up to 50% less sodium than their original counterparts.
Campbell also announced in February that it will reformulate the entire line of Campbell’s Kids soups to meet the government criteria for “healthy” foods. All 12 kids soup varieties, including new Campbell’s Disney Princess soup and classics like Campbell’s Chicken & Stars soup, are now better than ever. The reformulated soups are controlled for fat, saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium and offer a positive nutrient such as a good source of vitamin A – and still offer the great taste kids love.
Campbell Expands the Swanson(R) brand into Stock
In the tradition of bringing high-quality, chef-inspired products to kitchens of America’s home cooks, the Swanson brand is launching a flavorful line of all-natural cooking stocks. When made from scratch, stocks require hours of preparation. Swanson stock will be loved by cooks for the rich, meaty flavor it provides to main course dishes. Swanson stock will be available in both beef and chicken varieties, packaged in a distinctive, re-sealable 28oz aseptic carton that fits perfectly in a refrigerator door.
Authentic Ingredients at Heart of New Specialty Salsas from Pace
Catering to consumer’s increasingly adventurous tastes, Pace Foods introduces a new line of five specialty salsas that are made with ingredients like guajillo peppers, queso blanco and asadero cheeses, tomatillos and real blue agave tequila. The new line offers the quality and consistency that consumers have associated with the Pace brand since it was introduced in 1947. These new bold flavors of salsa, made with authentic ingredients, are available nationwide in a 16oz bottle.
